The 12U field was one of the more impressive groups of the entire GNBA Championship. Game after game was loaded with tremendous talent and a high level of play. Here are the players that stood out the most over the weekend. 

Darin Ashiru – 2027 – G – M14 Hoops
A skilled point guard that is good with the ball in his hands. Ashiru has good handle and quickness to get anywhere he wants with the basketball. He was often getting into the defense and using his good passing ability to distribute it out well. He proved to be a good decision maker that always knew where to go with the ball. 

Blake Basich – 2027 – G – Closed Gyms
A quick guard with good moves and handle to be a skilled playmaking point guard that was getting wherever he wanted with the ball. He impressed with his ability to attack the defense and distribute the ball out with very good vision but also shot the ball well spotting up from three. Basich was one of the top scorers at the 12U level. 

Oliver Belot – 2027 – G/F – Chapman Basketball
Belot was a sharpshooter that also contributed in a number of ways. He has a very good-looking jumper with a smooth stroke to hit his shots well spotting up from the perimeter. Even while be tightly defended and even face guarded at times, he was still able to drill four threes in one game. He is a very active wing that defends multiple positions as well to rebounding well. 

Pavle Djilas – 2027 – G – Movement Hoops
A lengthy guard with some size and plenty of skills. He showed plenty of very good moves of the dribble attacking to finish at the basket as well as around the paint. Plus, Djilas has a nice smooth jumper as well to a good passing ability.  

Asa Harris – 2027 – G – Mac Irvin Fire
A highly elusive and playmaking point guard that just could not be stopped. With his quickness and tremendous moves with the ball, he was often beating his man and getting paint touches. Once he got into the paint, he showed a very good ability to finish in traffic but also be unselfish and dish it off. 

Derrek Langit – 2027 – G – IL Flight Black
Throughout the weekend Langit put on a scoring clinic to lead his Flight team to a championship. He was unstoppable off the dribble getting to the basket. He was able to use his great moves to beat defenders or just overpower them and fight his way to the basket. During the championship game he was dominant scoring the basket and was finishing it incredibly well around the basket. 

Luke Loughlin – 2028 – G – Limitless Basketball
While one of the smaller players at the tournament, Loughlin still brought plenty of game. The point guard was fearlessly attacking the basket to finish or get to the free throw line often. He proved to be so tough to defend off the dribble with his acceleration and great shifty moves. 

Dereon Smothers – 2027 – G – IL Flight Green
The athletic guard performed well on both ends of the floor. He is a good quick on ball defender that proved to be very tough to get by. With his strong handle and shifty moves, he did a great job of getting to the basket and finishing there. Smothers is a crafty finisher that scored it at a high percentage.   

Jake Thies – 2027 – G – IL Flight Black
Another guard from the 12U IL Flight squad that scored it very well going to the basket. Thies handles the ball nicely and maneuvers well around defenders to get into the paint often and did a great job finishing in traffic. Plus, the guard battles hard on the defensive side to lock down opposing guards. 

Brady Welch – 2027 – G – Mid Pro Academy
Welch was one of the more impressive players of the entire tournament. The point guard is incredibly tough to defend off the dribble with his quickness and shifty moves. He scored it so well going to the basket but also knocked down jumpers off the dribble with range at a high percentage.
